In 2021 INIDI PF conducted a study "Social Entrepreneurship as an Effective Tool for Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Rural Women".
Project: Economic Empowerment of Rural Women in the pilot regions.
Client: UN Women in the Republic of Kazakhstan
One of the up-to-date global approaches to solving social problems in conditions of limited government resources is the attraction of the private sector to this task through development of social entrepreneurship. Social enterprise is also not a new phenomenon in Kazakhstan. Despite the absence of a separate normative act regulating the activity of social entrepreneurship, Kazakhstan already has certain experience and potential for its development. Various areas are implemented through the involvement of socially vulnerable population groups in entrepreneurial activities: in state ("Yenbek", "Best Social Projects", "Paryz", "Ozgeris ustazy", "Scale up" etc.) and regional ("Business in 3 Days", "Isker Ana", "Kəsinker Ana" etc.) programmes, as well as support of social projects through the "SamrukKazyna Trust" Social Projects Development Fund. But at the same time, today, Kazakhstan has not formed a clear understanding of the directions of development of social entrepreneurship, its definition is not fixed, the criteria for classifying the enterprise as a subject of social entrepreneurship are not developed, the measures of state support are not systematized. Often this direction is developed at the expense of economic and social activity of individual citizens and organizations. As a result, representatives of civil society and entrepreneurs raise the issues of government participation in supporting socially-oriented enterprises, including through the provision of benefits and preferences, creation of necessary infrastructure and provision of financial assistance at various platforms. In this connection, there is a need for legal regulation and systematization of mechanisms for social entrepreneurship development in Kazakhstan, as well as establishment of responsible government bodies for implementation of this direction.

In 2019, INIDI PF took part as a partner in the Almaty region in the project "Citizen Participation in Decision Making". This project was developed and implemented by IRMS with the support of NAO CPIG. One of the important points of the project was to conduct a joint assessment study on the problems of the local community, in order to take them into account as far as possible in the development plan of the rural district in the future.
The research was conducted in Zhetygen rural authority of Ili district. 97 residents were interviewed, 4 interviews were conducted with relevant persons, and one focus group on ranking of problems was conducted. The results of the study formed the basis of proposals in the development plan of the region, which were sent to the Akim of the rural district.

In 2017, INIDI PF conducted a survey as part of the project "Monitoring and evaluation of the impact of NPO projects through international and state funding" with the support of the NAO CISC.
This evaluation was organised to strengthen the capacity and practices to develop mechanisms of interaction between government agencies and NCOs in Kazakhstan to identify priorities, and to have an impact on addressing the needs of society. This evaluation report is intended to provide independent qualitative feedback on the process and impact of projects implemented in Kazakhstan between 2014 and 2016 with national (from the RK state budget and non-state donor structures), foreign and international financial support. To achieve this goal, the evaluation team conducted a comprehensive analysis of projects (the largest and most significant) implemented by NCOs in Kazakhstan in the specified time period. It is assumed that the results of the analysis will be used to identify future directions of state funding for socially significant projects implemented by NCOs in Kazakhstan and to develop methods of assessing the impact of these projects.
